Q4 2017: MicroMD PM & EMR Tips and Tricks

There are so many interesting tricks when using any software program, and MicroMD is no exception. Some of the following useful tips could help save you time and improve your financial bottom line.

Tip/Trick #1

Did you know that typing the word “Insurance” in the “General Message box will generate the “Default Plan Set” Primary and Secondary Payers on a patients Bill or Statement?

  1. Go to Billing > Statements / Bills
  2. In the Billing Options Window, in the General Message box type the word INSURANCE

Click print on the left task pane and when the Statements/Bills print the patient’s current Primary and Secondary Insurances will print on the bottom to the that Statement/Bill.

Tip/Trick #2

Did you know that you can find failed transaction on the Credit Card Payment Plan Report?

If your practice utilizes the Credit Card Payment Plan, when the Credit Card Payment Plan Report is generated, the system displays any failed credit card transactions in red. The date displayed in the Next Date column for that transaction will appear in bold red on the report.

  1. Go to Reports > Management > Credit Card Payment Plan Options
  2. On the Options window select the criteria needed and click Accept

If you want to see only failed plans you can place a check mark in the Display Options > Failed Plans Only check box and MicroMD PM displays only those credit card transactions that failed, along with the message that came from Vantiv for that failed transaction.

Tip/Trick #1

Remember that all of the new areas added to the Medical Information area can be added to your Encounter Wizard > Medical Information step to enhance your workflow.

These include:

  • Transition of Care
  • Health Concerns
  • Implantable Devices
  • Behavioral Health Screening
  • Chronic Care Management

Tip/Trick #2

Friendly reminder that the F3 shortcut key opens the Patient Monitor when focused on a patient.  This is particularly helpful in areas that do not offer the monitor action button.
