Navigating Online Marketing to Attract New Patients

94% of new patients will check out your healthcare practice online

Every healthcare practice loves new patients! AutoRemind’s multi-year research states that about 80% of new patients come via insurance and from existing patients’ recommendation while the remaining 20% comes from online search, walk-ins, etc. Although this might be familiar to you, what may come as a surprise is that 94% of new patients will check out your healthcare practice online as part finding a new provider and validating a provider choice. This is why it is so important for you to look good online.

Google is the most obvious choice for patients to search for a provider, so having solid Google reviews is very important. To get your rankings up, a reputation management system could be beneficial, but many providers are afraid of bad reviews backfiring. Our research shows that most doctors get good reviews from their own patients. Only 1 in 10 would leave a bad review, so all your need is to remind patients about leaving a good review and soon after you will see a steady stream coming in.

As soon as patients see solid reviews, they check out the provider via their website. For years, AutoRemind has been tracking who visits healthcare websites. Surprisingly we found that 85% of visitors have not been on this website before – potential new patients! They spend no more than 2 minutes on the site looking at about 2 pages: the front page and the service page or the doctor’s page. This means that your website has to be on point and clearly communicate your practice’s core values. It could be your experience, technology or maybe your pricing. Your site has to be appealing, easy to load and navigate, even on a mobile phone.

Additionally, you have the opportunity to reach new patients via online marketing and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  Online marketing with the Google AdWords tool could be very valuable for your practice, but many argue that SEO also could help.
